I'm excited to share the lyric video for my new single, "Rescue." This video was shot in one of my favorite places in the world - my grandma's garden tucked away deep in the western NC mountains.
I grew up playing in this garden, chasing lizards, watching hummingbirds, and picking fruit off the apple trees. My Pawaw was always driving his 4-wheeler out in the field digging and harvesting boxwood and Christmas trees while his loyal dog, Susie, followed closely behind. My Mamaw would make sure she had a fresh pitcher of sweet tea ready for me, and I could always find her somewhere hidden in the flowers on her hands and knees pulling weeds.
Years have passed and Papaw is in Heaven now. His dog Susie died shortly after his passing...loyal to follow as always. Mamaw has slowed down, and the garden has overgrown a bit as you can see in the video. But it still holds the memories of the past and the hope for the future.
David & I wrote this song shortly after we got married. A lot of our marriage story has to do with my Papaw and this special place. It's a long story. It's good, it's hard, and it's beautiful in a way only Jesus could make it.
We truly felt rescued by God's grace and love. Our response was with a song. I found myself in the scriptures and kept coming back to the redemption story of Jesus on the cross..the ultimate rescue. It's the rescue that changes everything. He knows our every need, and He holds us in our brokenness. When we are completely and desperately in need of rescue He is waiting with open arms. There is nothing He cannot redeem. Believe me. We have seen His rescue and we have walked through redemption's door.
I have been told this song brings peace to the listener. That is an answered prayer. I hope that these words and melodies meet you with peace and calm any anxiety you may be feeling today. I pray you rest in His kindness and find His rescue is near.
