Sow Where You Have Favor

March 1, 2017

I was listening to a podcast from Full Circle Music recently of an interview with producer, songwriter, and artist Jason Ingram that I found super encouraging.

The interview was full of great advice and encouragement, but one thing that stuck out to me the most was at the end when Jason shared the advice, "Sow where you have favor."

This really struck me as I have been searching and praying through the calling that God has placed on my life. There are so many different directions I could go, but what I want the most is the thing that God has placed before me, and I don’t want to miss it.

The way Jason put it, “Sow where you have favor,” really gave me a new perspective. I realize that I need to ask God to show me where He has given me favor and then I need to sow there. I also need to be careful to not get distracted by other things that draw my attention or that make me feel like I am missing out on something.

It makes so much sense to me. Sometimes we can get so distracted by comparing our lives to others that we miss the place that God has specifically set a part for us. There is a place that He has given us favor, and there is ground He has designed for us to till and sow a seed for a future harvest.

When we step back and look at the opportunities that are before us it's good to ask God where we should say, "Yes," and where we should say, "No." Don't make the mistake of trying to sow in places where you don't have favor. That ground is not fertile for planting. Find the power of the word, "No," and identify the area God has given you His resounding, "Yes." Then put the plow to the ground, sow, pray, and don't give up.

That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Maybe this could be something that helps you too, and we can all benefit. I pray that you find God's favor in your life and you give your time and efforts to Him and growing His kingdom. Let's all try hard not to compare ourselves to our co-runners in this race, but instead sow in our place of favor and cheer our friends on as we work toward the same goal.

Be blessed and sow where you have favor!

With love,
